Metering Pipe

I just had a question about the propane meter I just built. First I have a 3 1/2 ft combustion chamber and a 10 ft barrell, would a 3/8 10 in metering pipe be enough? I know there are calculations but it seems a pain in the ass to fill it up with water and convert into milliliters. I wasnt sure if it was the metering pipe length or the psi that was important. Also, I have seen on this forum that people say that a larger diameter pipe (ie: 1/2 in)is better , and if so is it practicle to use 2 3/8 ball valves and get some 3/8 to 1/2 brushings and use a 1/2 metering pipe and also go to a 12 in pipe length?

you'd need 151 psi in a 12" x 3/8" pipe, and you'll never get the propane tank to that pressure. i would go with a 3/4"x12" pipe that way you would need 50psi and a tank would last longer
