Hey I'm new to all this (forum, canons, guns,...) but am very willing to built my own rig.
I've read a few post and the wiki and all ... but i thought this would be the best way of getting into it.
So i want to build/make my own "gun", i want something simple and amusing to start off with ... so what would be the best model to start with ?
cheers

Well I would personally recommend a small ball valve pnumatic. They are cheap, reliable, and if you use threaded parts you can upgrade to a sprinkler valve fairly easily. They don't have as much power as a piston pnumatic, but mine can easily send an AA battry out of sight straight up, and even that looks cool even though it isn't hard to achive. Just make sure you use ALL PRESSURE RATED PIPE AND FITTINGS!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh and welcome to the forums!

combustions are probly the best to start with just make one with a bbq ignitor and fuel it with any old spray

Yeah, but they arn't as reliable as pnumatics and a ball valve gun is only a little more complicated

not really, Pneumatics are more reliable and easier to make.

Check the How-To section. There are several sets of plans, ranging from $20-30 combustion guns and ball valve pneumatics, to $200+ advanced combustions and piston valve pneumatics.
Look around at those, and also at some of the guns in the Showcase section, and get a feel for what you want to build. Basically, do some research.
Then post back if you have any questions regarding more detailed plans, parts lists, building instructions, etc... We'll be happy to help.
Welcome to the addiction--- oops, I mean hobby. Spudguns are that way.
Peace,
Pete Zaria.

Combustions are really only reliable when you use metered propane/mapp, since this guy wants a simple gun I doubt he would use metered propane or mapp.
