modding a sprinkler valve makes it open faster, and give better performance to your gun (you also dont need batteries) basically you install a blowgun in the sprinkler valve by drilling and tapping a hole for 1/4" NPT threads, when you press the button on the blowgun it exhausts the air above the diaphragm (rubber thing in the valve) that causes the phagm to move up, which lets the air in the chamber go through the barrel

Alright, on a sprinkler valve with a solenoid still left in, the solenoid has a smal plunger that seals against a hole in the valve cover. when activated, the solenoid plunger moves up and lets out pressure. But because the hole is so small, it releases air much slower, which makes it open slower. By modding your valve, you're making a bigger opening for the air to flow through. So basically: Bigger Exhaust=Faster Opening Time.

Just remember to seal up your solenoid hole with a good epoxy, otherwise your valve won't work correctly.

Just remember not to put the 1/4 in nipple to far into the valve cover, or the diaphragm won't be able to open fully, and it might cause your valve to malfunction.
