potato guns on long island?

Hi guys, i live on long island and i built a few potato guns, but im not shure if its legal to use them where i live.

Check wikipedia, I should have some answers. Your best bet though would to send a letter to the local police force about legality issues. If they are legal, also remember to keep the gun quiet, apparently people don't like the sound of destruction .
