is there a better way to bond sch 80 other than sch 40 pvc glue and primer? i found some black maxx adhesive sealant on mcmaster and it said you can use it for pvc and it has a tensile strength of 3750psi!!!! does anyone have a opinion of this.

i woudnt use it, since its just an adheisive, whereas PVC primer and cement melt the plastic together, and besides you'd never get to 3750 PSI anyway, your chamber/union would explode first

The 3750 psi is the tensile streangth of the material. Heck, pvc has a tensile strength of 7,000 psi... which in no way means any old tube made of it can take 7,000 psi.

They used that same trick on that ford commercial where they hang the truck from the ceiling and the scientist walks under it. If you remeber the commercial they were trying to prove that the bolts that held there bed to the truck were strong so to illustrate that they hung the truck by one of the bolts. But they hung it using the tensile strength of the bolt which isnt used on a truck bed. The tensile strength is alot more which wouldnt be used in a PVC application. Ive seen this trick used alot.

It's not a "trick"... it's just a slightly dishonest selection of bolt properties to display. One might point out that the tensile strength of a 5/16" fine grade 2 bolt (higher grades are better) is more than 2 tons - but that's not a <i>safe</i> load to put on a 5/16" bolt. (safe loading is 270 lbs) - this is about twice the safe shear load.
Yeah, the yeild strength of the steel is probably about 30,000 psi... but the point is that <i>dementions matter</i>
