would aluminum be good for a hybrid. im thinking of using a 1'' by 12'' chamber. i would like to hand hold it at a 1.5X mix

It's not the cheapest pipe in the world, but mcmaster sells sch 40 aluminum (I'm assuming you don't want to weld aluminum, so I'm only going to discuss pipe with threaded ends). Your 1"*18" chamber (they don't sell 1" in 12" lengths) will cost you 17$, and probably isn't rated much higher than sch 80 PVC (Acctualy, I'm not sure it's rated at all) anyway.

why would you want your chamber in 1" pipe?

i dont care what the chamber is or its size. i just would like to know the safest materials and vol. chamber to safely handhold a 1.5x hybrid mix.

Hmm... let's see here:
yeild strength, generic cast aluminum: 23,000 PSI.
Ultimate tensile strength, PVC: 6,000 PSI.

So, the aluminum is about 4 times stronger than the PVC. 1" sch 40 PVC is rated to 450 PSI... 1" sch 40 Aluminum should be rated to about 1,800. However, it's threaded, so devide that by 2... 900 PSI.

Now, that's only an estimate, but it's probably close enough, considering that a 1.5x mix only produces about 100 PSI. (which reminds me... why make a low mix hybrid? It's tied to a compressor, and it's finiky, and it's expensive...)
But maybe I should point out that 1" PVC (sch 40) is rated to <b>450</b> psi. Now, remember what I said about a 1.5x mix giving you 100 PSI? Yeah, you probably see my point...

*edit: Yeah, I realize that yeild and UTS arn't really comparable, but whatever. I'm just going to say that there is a "saftey factor" built into my numbers. (as the UTS is certainly more than the yeild)

thanks for the knowledge. with the info you provided it is safe to say i could probally hand hold a 50cu. in. Aluminum chamber (in a pistol form to keep the heat away from my hand) at a 2x mix. the reason for building a little gun is to pull it out and out shoot any other gun anyone else has. hahaha
