A microwave? Alternatively you could fill a pot with water then place a soup can(label removed) with hot glue sticks in it, in the water and bring the water to a boil on a stove and the glue sticks should melt, then pour them into your 'mold'. basically casting hot glue.

i dont see why you wouldnt use a gun. if your just gonna straight up melt it, i guess a microwave would work. but if you plan to use it on things to hold it together and what not, theres really not much other then a glue gun. a soldering iron might be ok but very difficult

A real double boiler, instead of the ghetto double boiler described above.

A frying pan would work well.

I use a heat gun personally. Works well only takes a few seconds. I also use it to make PVC sheet.

We all know what happens when you combine Tyler, a pie plate, a heat source, and um... something to be melted. (inside joke)

Double boiler....real.....expensive? WTF, when I was a Cub Scout my dad and I had to make a cake and part of my cake was a chocolate boy scout sign. we took two pots and nested them inside each other and put water in the lower one. Work like a charm. thats about as real a double boiler as your gonna get.....and it was free!. anyways, why is this topic in combustion forum and not the random or unrelated forum?

oh and red neck, if you put a METAL SOUP CAN of which I believe most are made of in to the MICROWAVE it will make pseudoLIGHTNING which will ultimately kill your personal radiation chamber. LOL just givin you a hard time.

I never said to put a can in the microwave... I said put a can containing hot glue sticks into a pot of boiling water. time to learn about the joys of reading, no?

i know that what i use is a heat gun.......... it works perfectly. in fact, i had a piston come out 100% seethrough. kinda cool.

just make sure if youre using a heat gun to have something metal for your mold. a heat gun just melts PVC like butter.

you could also put a tin can full of glue stick pellets on the stove on low heat for a few minutes..............

Where do you live that soup cans are made from a material other than metal?

By using the term can you imply it's metal....
