Hey im new here and me and my friend actaully just made a potato gun and it fires really well....well after we built we took it outise and the grass was damp and we had the base in the grass....and then i sprayed some hairspray in it and didnt wrk then we tried a diff. spray and it was my AXE, and then we hit the button thing and it luanched pretty far like a football feild lenght(100 yds)
then we kept trying to do it again with the axe bc it seemed like it was wrking, but it didnt and it stopped wrking for the next 2 tries, it was a dud, then we let some air go in it and blow on it and then we didnt have anything in it and we were just looing in the base and hit the trigger and the spark was weak.. we dont know if it wa the hairspray or it getting wet or too much hairspray or needs to be dried out???? Need help
Thanks, Peter

2 point guide to opperating a simple combustion:

Fuel. Typicaly, people use too much.

Air. Blow those combustion fumes out.

Other than that, your spark is probably not the issue. Propane/air mixtures arn't hard to ignight.

"no propane"
Read the ingreadients on ye old can of stuff. You'll notice that it probably contains the following: Propane, butane, isobutane, and/or alchohol. With the exception of the alchohol, they all behave similarly.
As to the best propelent, "right guard origional" is typialy reccomended, but anything with those before mentioned ingrediants will fire fine. Hairspray, however, makes your chamber sticky, and (personaly) I'v found it to smell bad.

sometimes my gun doesnt wrk everytime i try to launch it, the procedure that i do is that i clcik the ignitor thing to clean out the left over hairspray then look in kinda on the side so wont get shot w flames then i spray stuff in there and shoot the flame out to clean it in the inside...do i need to have air flow at all or wut should i do at night to ry it out or wut?? wut is the best to do on misfires, or to clean it
Well you're doing it ok. You click a few times with the cap off and then look a bit on the side to see if the ignition is workng. Maybe wipe the inside walls of the pill bottle with some toilet paaper so the liquid part of the deodrant (propellent) won't catch on fire. Don't forget safety first.
