Why the hell are you so mean to me. You must have been a noob once.
And why do you have to make me sound like a complete dumb ass. I only heared about this website two days ago. I really wanted to talk to some one who shared an interest with me. Already, youve made me want to swear my tits off and leave this Spud thing.

Oh, and about the repitition of the emoticons... DIG IT!

You have started 3 threads since you arrived here:

1) For basic pneumatic help. You got useful responses from us, so have no reason to complain.

2) For help with account features. You got useful responses and were told to SEARCH next time... although mr.C was a bit harsh.

3) This thread.

And, no I was never a noob in the same way you are; I believe my first post on a spudgun-related forum was made after several hours of research, to check if my spudgun plan (diaphragm cannon, IIRC) would work.

This is not an uncommon story; we routinely get new members who post very nice, and sometimes innovative, cannons on their first post... and, of course, most people using the resource this community provides NEVER MAKE A POST AT ALL.

You, on the other hand, pop up and demand to be spoon-fed instead of doing the research.

Until you change your methodology, you can expect more of the same.

You really should try talking to the server that talks to you when you try clicking the topic name. Then you'll see your situation is not really as bad as you think.

I will answer your questions from the other topic however:
Hi all. Im new to this website and there are some things i want to have on my account. How do i get a picture where my name should be?
How do i get my rank changed. (private just dont swing it)
How do i submit a photo?
What can you get with SpudBux
- This little picture is an avatar. If you follow this link ( Control Panel ) you are taken to your control panel, where you can manipulate your profile. This allows you to add an avatar, and if you have bought it with your spudbux, a signature. Normally this link is called "Profile" and is found on the right, just above the adverts in orange at the top of the screen.

- To change your rank, there are three options.
1) Making a donation to PCGuy towards the forums running costs earns you a completely custom title.
2) Post count increases your rank. However, if you make huge numbers of spam posts, you'll just get chucked off the forums - don't make junk posts to increase your count.
3) If you can earn 1200 $pud, you can buy a custom title. However, this is a long road.

- There is a spudfiles image uploader, but I have never used it. I personally prefer to use a photo hosting site like Photobucket (google for a link, I'm too lazy) and link remotely with url tags.

- Spudbux have little use other than buying a custom title (1200 $pud) or signature (300 $pud), but you can also "buy" stuff from the shop, or go to the casino.
Remember the "Profile" link I mentioned before - on the line above that, click on the "Other" link on the very far right (Preferably as "Open in New window, or my post will disappear).
The 2nd option down is shop - here you can buy the forum abilities like the sig and title. You can also "get" cannons here... but no one bothers, they do nothing for you. I'm personally saving up for a Sgort though.
The 3rd option is bank. If you "open" an account, you can earn a small amount of interest on the $pud that you pay in. However $pud outside the bank earns no interest, and $pud in the bank can't be used until taken out.
The 4th option is the casino. Some people are addicted to these games - but most of the time, you'll lose $pud here.
Other than that, you can donate them to other people. I'm sure you've already noticed that the $pud are given based on post length.

There is one final use if you listen to some forum members - apparently, they can be used to ward off evil sprites.

That should answer your questions. Now I will give you some free advice:
Don't start agressive threads like this. If you have a problem, either PM (Private Message - link for this immediately next to the "Profile" one, or if you click their username, there is a button saying "PM" on the right side of their user page) the user in question, or a moderator about the problem.

The search function is the most important button on the forum. It's second in from the left on the line above the profile button. Use it if you have a question that you have even the slightest inkling that the question might have been asked before. And with nearly 5000 members other than yourself, most questions will have been asked before.
Also, remember, Google is your friend.

Not everyone starts as a n00b - everyone starts as a newb, but that's entirely different.
I'll admit my first cannons were very ghetto, but I had searched properly, and I did understand the principles of the more advanced cannons pretty well... My first ever post on a spudgun forum was a short novel.
Believe me, the starting impression that well researched and thought out posts gives earns instant respect... you are immediately accepted, and you are forgiven any odd n00bish acts, as long as you are seen to have tried to find the answer, people will be perfectly happy to help.
However, saying "I've tried searching for this, and it came up with nothing" shouldn't be done, unless that is actually true, otherwise you'll be caught out on something sooner or later.

A polite attitude helps everything go better. Avoid insulting other members or their hard work, even if you are annoyed with them.
Discussing works much better than arguing - insults make it an argument.

Oh yeah... Don't use too many emoticons! They really do annoy people.

Did I miss something? When I clicked on the link in "new topics," I got some emo web server b*tching about it's life. Now I click on the "recent topics" bar, and I get here. WTF?
Is this post supposed to achieve anything by the way? If so, I'm sure you can find the answer by searching.

EDIT: Serious though, what's going on?

^Same here.

Saboo, when you attemp to find things on your own and ask intelligent questions, you will find that people respect you more. I browsed this site for over a week before I made an account, and I still learn new stuff all the time.

Have you clicked the wiki button at the top?

Saboo, I now think the best thing for you to do is sit down, revise your past actions and their consequences; then continue to decide whether its worth changing your attitude or not; and come back to the forum. If you have changed your attitude for the better, most people will forgive you, forget about the past, and allow you to gain their respect. If you dont change your attitude, or it deteriorates further, people will continue treating you with no respect and you could even be banned(for obvious reasons).
Now Im not trying to put you down or belittle you (at all), as I can vaguely see where you coming from and your motives. I am just trying to guide and help you become a more popular and respected person on these forums.
We all start out as newbies, not noobs; but Im sure you can change your current "rank" of noob to a newbie, then progress to a higher level of spudgun understanding and knowledge.
All good things come with time, but some are just faster than others. Try move along swiftly.
This post wasnt in any way meant to offend you and isnt sarcastic at all, its just honest advice. I hope you understand this, and can adapt to the personality reccomended on these forums.
All most these people want is to build spudguns and have fun anyways.
Peace

Dang, it's hard to get into this topic. I had to open up my history and find the topic there to get back in.
Could the name be changed?

Saboo, all the advice you have been given is a good start. If you could check the wiki, read the rules, and lurk for a bit, you'll gain a wealth of knowledge very fast.

And for a newb/noob explanation, I recommend reading this webcomic: Ctrl+Alt+Del comic for 23rd August 2006.
A very good webcomic, but does have some semi-mature references, so don't browse it too freely if you are really easily offended - or if parents are around. However, anyone above the forum's age limit of 13 should be fine.
It's got a battle royale between a penguin and scorpion!
