Rank Idea
Why not have people vote on other peoples rank based on what they made instead of their post count? we could have a way where each person could vote for one person and and change their vote based on different things that are made. we could have different awards like spudder of the month and stuff.
just an idea to influence people to build better cannons

sounds pretty cool, but if you ask me....it's way more in depth than it needs to be. I like the "spudder of the month" idea though

yeah it would be cool just to have a link on the homepage to vote for spudder of the month. it could get refreashed every month and at the end of the year there could be a poll with all of the people who won that to compete in for spudder of the year.

Maybe after people put cannons in the show case there could be a little poll on the bottom of the screen that poeople can put a rating out of 100.
You can tell how awesome a cannon is by the pressure used.

This is what's commonly known as a "rep system", where users gain reputation points given to them by other users instead of advancing in ranks from higher post counts.
There are at least a couple of phpBB mods out there for it, it is just a matter of finding one that will coexist relatively peacefully with all the other ones on here, and getting it installed.
The fun part is, the easier the above statement sounds, the less you know about working with hacked up phpBB.

MrCrowley and I belong to another website (don't ask) that had a "rep system". It couldn't keep accurate count to save it's own butt! I believe it since has been disabled and tossed out.

I have seen rep systems that work great, it is really a matter of being more clever than all the jackasses like Ben that think they are cool, and try to find ways to artificially boost rep. Most systems that work out limit your giving of rep to one per day, and not to the same person twice in a row, or more than x times in x days.
We also would not have to start on a clean slate. Kyle could give anyone he wanted whatever rep he thought they deserved
Of course, it is not reasonable for him to go around giving rep to every member around here that deserves from for past efforts. Besides, a clean slate ain't all bad.....

I think a clean slate would be wicked nice. I actually could give two shits about my post count and rank, so a clean slate would just be an amusing experiment to see other people's reactions.
Another interesting thing to try is to reset signatures and avatars as well, and set a rep point goal to gain the privileges again. It would be very interesting to see if people can still ID their other members without an avatar or signature to do it by.
Anyways, just my thoughts.
EDIT: (I love doing social experiments. I have already concluded this year that most of the "popular" or "social" people at our school have no clue how to deal with people outside of their "circle". I'd have to say I'm 200% better at dealing with strangers than they are, and I've always been kind of softspoken.

yes but i did not think people cared when it was a paper ball held toghether by tiny amounts of tape to keep the weight down.
it was from the hybrid: the not working hybrid i just wanted to try so i had some random amount of propane in there and pressurized it to 4x and on the second try it ignited after some delay (really bad mix)
it was at 1140fps or 340m/s
the pneumatic got to 320m/s
(i don't mind spellcheck this:D)
