I think it would be a good idea. That ways we have more storage for the site on the server. I am not sure of the server limit though. Something is telling me that its enormous:D

I think that it may be a good idea, as long as if they try to log in their account comes back, so they don't need to create a new one. (not that it is hard to do so) That way it would delete the users that no longer visit the site, but the ones that do visit the site but have no posts will still have an account.

PCGUY cleans it up every now and then, he'll get round to it some time i'm sure.
He also clears the 'trash can' where all the deleted posts and topics go, so post and topic count will also drop.

Weather or not registered members post or not post, isn't a good reason to kick out their accounts. They could be regular readers. Guest users can't see everything registered users can, there are privilege's to be a account holder here at Spudfiles.
Log out of your accounts and read what it says at the home page about being a registered member, if I remember correctly it's not only posting it mentions.

I agree on throwing them out, but only in their account:
1- Has zero posts
2- Did not log in since 3 months
If you are only a reader and not posting, having an account helps for you to see if there are new posts/topics.
If there are any "readers", I'd like if they would post in this thread to let us know they are there.

I would imagine he only deletes accounts with zero post count, and a few months inactivity. None the less I know he already does something similar because I remember him talking about it a while back.

Humm how did this topic get locked
Every few months I go and I delete all accounts that have not been activated in the past few weeks and longer. Accounts are activated once someone receives the registration email from SpudFiles, and clicks the link to activate their account. As long as they have done that, I keep their account. Most people who are activated have some sort of post count, there are few who are activated and still have 0. Eventually I will probably start removing accounts that have not logged in within a year, etc.
Number of overall posts here is also accurate.

Not quite true... post counts that you see are actual post counts (always). Things in the "trash can" do not get counted. He also clears the 'trash can' where all the deleted posts and topics go, so post and topic count will also drop.

Yes, I am the guy that owns & operates SpudFiles (along with our extremely helpful moderators).

bad idea... i frequent the site daily, and being in the navy, i will be going to sea for 4 months soon(no internet on submarines, not all the time at least...), which would boot my account even though I visit as often as possiblepsycix wrote:I agree on throwing them out, but only in their account:

Youve got to read the whole thing.
