Thanks to those people who replied to spudgundepot's obvious spamming posts as you made me delete fur posts instead of just one.

Next time PM a moderator. If you PM'd another moderator, you still shouldn't have replied to him in the topic. Obviously he's spamming and wont reply with anything worthwhile. Even if he does, it's thread hijacking so i'd delete your guys posts anyway.

Remember: If someone breaks the rules.... Private Message a Moderator. Do not reply to the member in the topic, or via PM. Leave the rule enforcing to the mods.

Alright, I'll try take it on board..

Though would we still be in the wrong if we saved someone medical fees, time and pain from preventing them from buying something from there with our warning?

It's not like we can shut his website down anyway, if someone is stupid enough to buy from there that's their own problem. Sure there's a chance someone might see the link before a mod gets to it and buy from there, but this is Spudfles, rarely do you get a member who would buy a cannon let alone ones so average as spudgundepot's.

This topic isn't necessarily only directed at you guys, a lot of members are still flaming other members when they kick up topics. Please, do not do this. It is against the rules.

i agree totally with the above post, its ironic how alot of people on this forum play vigilante, and yet still think its ok to make illigal weapons ,depending on where u live that is..,,it would save alot of arguing on the forum as i would know first hand, moderators are like justice of the peace, when they talk u tend to shut ur mouth and listen...

Spudgun Depot? People have been fighting him and his links off the Wikipedia page for some time.

Wikipedia is not a place to advertise - while I'm happy to see Spudtech on there because it was such a major part in the development of higher levels of the hobby, I'm not about to see a nobody selling low quality tat on there.

On the note of Wikipedia, there also seems to be someone else repeatedly vandalising the page. I know that guy's already inundated with warnings for a lot of things, so if he does it again, I doubt having him blocked would be any trouble at all.

Unfortunately, Spudgun Depot seems to be using several different accounts for his Wikipedia bothering, so there's no one thing to block, unless an Admin tracks it back to a specific IP.

Is there much we can do to warn potential customers about his for sale cannons? Guess we could put it on the homepage, but that's a bit of an advertisement for him

I'd imagine a fair amount of people who buy spudguns online will visit Spudfiles' homepage at some point.

Or they might click it for the hell of it, and think "these aren't so bad". To the untrained eye, those are dandy.

Take this one for example:
http://thumbs.freewebs.com/Members/view ... size=large
They don't tell you, and most newer people would not know but..

Features:
-Schrader through one layer of plastic!
-Unrated bell reducer!
-Unrated elbows!
-Cleanout cap! (unrated)
-Unknown pipe!

I think rather than just saying "this is good" and "this is bad", we could write a section on what to look for in a commercial cannon. In fact, I'll start typing now..And someone could pop it onto the wiki.

That could amount to slander, so could a front page warning. No body wants to pick up the legal fee's proving it's not. That could put Spudfiles right out of business. American courts are very tempermental about fine line cases like this.

Is there any point in targeting him specifically? It's only one site amongst a myriad of others that build stuff of that kind of (questionable) quality.

And let's be fair, it's their money, and imperfect though it is, most of Spudgun Depot's stuff is probably better (and safer) than what someone who thinks something like that is good could make themselves.

Also, if you've actually searched the internet, looked past the fine work of Spudtech & LaunchPotatoes (not to exclude UltimateSpudgun, but I imagine the people we're talking about aren't going to spend that kind of budget), and you're still going to settle on what SD is selling, I don't think any warning we could put out would be of any use.

(Actually, tell the truth, they'd probably find the less than ideal work of Spudgun.com first.)

... Also, I've just noticed that the large image on the front page of SD is a .bmp - why?
.jpeg would certainly suffice, but if you have to go lossless, what's wrong with .png?

@C11man: A web search for Spudgun Depot will find it no problem at all.

EDIT: Speilung
