Whenever I get a new PM notification on the home page, the advertisment, and the OK button is hidden behind it. Does this happen to everybody? Can it be fixed?

Perhaps by moving the notification box, but the code for the advertisements means they're always on top of everything else.

Stops them being hidden under other page elements.

Oh, about the PM notifacation, yea it hides behind the ad banner. I use the link on the right side top where it says you have # messages.

I know, that's what I do too. I was just wondering if it is the same for everybody else.

This is a known issue and I will move the box as soon as I remember exactly where that bit of code is

I believe PCGUY gets into trouble with google ads if something goes on top of the ads, so moving is indeed the best option.

I just say Firefox and Add Block Plus.

Blocks more than 90% of all internet adds. :D

Oh yes. Very fair on PCGUY. Let's rob him of the advertising revenue that helps keep this site running.

I run adblocking software, although I only use it to block actively annoying things - flashing forum avatars, noisy adverts, Rick Rolls, etc. Stuff that I simply cannot put up with or which I'd actually back out of a page to avoid.

PCGUY's adverts are inoffensive and don't detract from my forum browsing experience, and so I don't block them. Simple courtesy - I'm using his site free, so I don't block the way he recoups (some of) the costs.

Frankly, I dread adblocking software becoming widespread enough that internet advertising becomes impractical, because that day will bring the age of free to use internet sites like Spudfiles to an end.

The way I use it is one thing. The way you're using it is actually harmful to the future of your internet browsing experience.

I didn't say that PCGUY doesn't deserve the extra cash for himself / keep spudfiles running. Internet advertising just got out of hand over the years and is plain annoying.

My understanding of these ads is that you are paid by the number of people that actually see them and not by the number of clicks on the ad. There are statistics for all sites on the web and the frequency in which they are visited and that is the basis of the payment.

Correct me if I'm wrong....

Somehow you still manage to receive your PM's....don't you? This is a non-issue.

The ads are both pay per click and pay per impressions (views). It just depends what ad it is, they are all mixed together. I don't even know which is which.

I thank those who do not use AdBlocking software for ads that are not obscene (like the ones on SpudFiles).

So if I hold F5 for a minute you will get rich? :P

Split the profit and I'll do it! :D

Yes, I know it doesn't work that way with a single IP.
