You may use them. I used an empty disposable freon tank for my larger cannon and a disposable propane tank for my Marshmallow cannon. I would not consider either build ghetto. Using free materials is fine, but ghetto has a particular style to the materials and construction. To qualify the quality of the materials used and the construction both must be up to the ghetto standards. Somehow I think a rusty iron pipe would qualify in the materials department. Hydraulic fittings and brass pipe while free may detract from the build in the materials department.

Study the construction of the award itself to see excellent examples of the quality of materials and quality of the build. It is an excellent example. Even the great quality of the photo with attention to resolution, color rendering and contrast add to the quality of the award.

Tape it. It must be able to fire more than once.

The explosion adds to the overall ghettoness

with some tape you should be able to fire it multiple times.

Points will be detracted if the tape job even starts to look professional.
Tape resembling the tape job on the award is expected. Maybe wrap it up in a ball of string instead.

Extra points for closing the joint with drywall screws and then taping it.

i already taped it, now its stronger. I have watched that video like 15 times and its just... AWESOME

Added the ignition to the Biohazard today. Fired on the very first try. The chamber volume is 75 cc. I fueled with the syringe at about 3.5 cc. I tried to combine a flash with time exposure, but the ignition was barely visible so I shot it a second time without flash.

This looks way to thought out to me. The idea behind 'ghetto' is to grab anything you got laying around (&preferd out of the trash can/junk pile) and shove a tube/barrel into it, squirt some kind of gas (vapor), we don't care if it's a fart, light it up so the combustion goes out the tube/barrel.

Jackthebeast entry is a great rendition of a 'ghetto' cannon.

I don´t think my gun is more un ghetto than Labtecpower´s gun

Well here's my entry, it's hard to be slightly original and keep it ghetto, but I think I might have been able to.

Here's the "WhipperSnapper", if anyone has a better name, please tell me, this name's a little weak.

The barrel is 17mm, a rather loose fit for the marbles I have, the chamber is ~500mL. It was a sauce bottle containing much AwesomeSauce.

It did fire several times, but I can't use it much now, the housing is decomposing and it gives me a stupendously itchy rash. I don't have any paint, when I do the case will be in another project.

Sounds like most 15 year old garden tools to me. Some type of fiberglass?

@wyz2285, notice there are no rules on what is allowed to enter, only guidelines. Can't wait to see it finished.
