I just got 4ft of 8" nsf-61 pvc.
I googled nsf-61, but with no prevail, is it safe for lets say... 120 psi? or acetylene?

And what fits good in a 8" barrel?

You mean "to no avail" :wink:

I believe NSF-61 is a health standard associated with potable water, nothing to do with pressure rating, so I'd assume your pipe is good for a simple combustion but not much else.

I think you'll find this "fits good" ;)

I imagine the destructive potential for this thing would be immense. But me, i'd go with ice slugs.

Check it's decommisioned first though. There are high numbers of cases of people (unwittingly) using live shells as doorstops, or mantelpiece ornaments.

@Frankrede: If you have a wall thickness measurement, and an accurate ID measurement, then you can estimate a burst pressure. If you then slap a 3:1 safety margin on top of that, you should get a "rating". Nothing solid, but enough to assess the likely risk.
Novacastrian: How about use whatever the heck you can get your hands on?
frankrede: Well then I guess it won't matter when you decide to drink bleach because your out of kool-aid.
...I'm sorry, but that made my year.

NSF-61, for our purposes, is pretty similar to NSF-pw. For pipe that large though, I still would stick with a combustion.

Ok, good, and the walls, I will measure them as soon as I get ready.
and I am probably going to build a combustion, because I do not plan on spending money.

@Jack
Ammo like that would be quite interesting in lets say a cannon nothing short of a pumpkin chucker.

@Blacket, a ice slug would be insane!
My freezer wouldn't hold it hah
