I realize we could get more performance out of it.. but.. at the ranges we are using it.. and the intent to provide training instead of just blowing them up.. I'd think it might be overkill to sup it up much more.. we like the shorter barrel for transportation, storage and realism sake.. so we sacrificed about a foot off the original incarnation..
wow I think its great that someone in the army has finally thought of this. so do you train troops?

you should look into a paintball compressed air tank at least, they offer multiple shot out of a single fill, are fairly light, very compact, and provide quite a punch without making any major mods to the laucher except for a simple rig to hook it up, mine cost me about 7 bucks, and i really want to say i appreciate what your doing for our guys man

If you look around on this site, you can find all kinds of ways to run 1"sprinklers in tandem.Doubling your airflow.(The Nuker II comes to mind) Another suggestion is to connect your chamber/valve assembly to your barrel, with a U shaped fitting, creating an over/under configuration.(all available at homecenters) makes it easier to store/transport/hide. I think it's cool as S**t, What you are using it for. Perhaps the coolest ever.'cause the training application will almost certainly help to save lives. Nice paint job by the way. ROCK ON!! 8)

There is something else I forgot to mention, An almost empty (or forward weighted with washers,) caulking tube With turbine type tail fins cut in the back(cut eight evenly spaced 3/4" slits in the back of the tube, then bend them up at an angle so it causes the tube to spin like a rifle shot). Will Result in a dramatic increase in both accuracy and range.Out of a 2" barrel you will need some sort of wadding. If you cant find anything else, use a couple of plastic shopping bags.Another idea; You could cut the spout off the tube, insert a lightstick in the hole, and fire it at night. Voila! Tracer round!

accually, if you dont want to make any real mods to the laucher i would try to rifle the barrel. theres a how to somewhere on this site, but try it out on a plain peice of pipe to practice your technique first

ThatGuyDan, First and for most, I’d like to say thanks to you and the grunts your training.
Second, to all those that keep offering improvements, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.
What he’s got there will do the job fine, plus if it’s to compact then it wont be a good simulator, RPG7s ain’t exactly pocket sized.
If it’s to complex, it might confuse the Brass, there by making them mad, which in turn will cause them to turn down the idea.
All I have to say is make sure you’re using pressure rated pipe, it may be counter-IED training, but they don’t need one going off on their shoulder.

@tomthebomb137,
the fins on a nerf rocket were not designed to cause the rocket to spin, causing the nerf to spin by using a rifled barrel will increase the drag on the nerf, thus causing a drop in velocity as well as range. the acuuracy gained is just not enough to make a rifled barrel worth messing with.
markieclarkie,
keep in mind that this is for training purposes and not to actualy kill or maim someone, as they are fireing this at trucks that are filled with troops the safest round they can fire is the nerf round.

Point well taken. But how much damage is a caulking tube gonna do to an armored vehicle? I'd say the more range + accuracy these guys can come up with, the better.

Do you want to be hit with a caulk tube? I sure don't.

Yeah a caulk tube is impractical. It's only to simulate a round hitting the armored vehicle.
They have other effects to make it look more realistic, but chances are they'll be under fire from an RPG in close quarter combat, not a couple of hundred yards away.

who the hell in there right mind wants to be shoot at with caulk tubes?
it would dent their ride, then their staff sargent will bust their asses for it. Nerfs are cool, I want some but haven't been able to find any
