I came across this in The Register today. Turns out that Dean Kamen (the Seqway guy) has invented a spudgun that shoots people.

The article is here:

The patent is here:

and here's a pic:

haha... and they get paid for thinking up these BRILLIANT ideas? im thinkin theres to many things to go wrong and prove fatal :( sticking with a helicopter sounds reasonable. but would be cool if they can get a person in one peice on a roof with it, wonder how much psi they will use for a ~ 180 lbs person... Im thinking its too much acceleration.
what do circus performers use to launch themselves out of the cannons? Hydrolics, Springs, or Compressed Air? Just curious.

dude thats sweet but i dont see why anyone would waste their time on building something that is so dangerous. there would be so many safety issues it would never make it. haha so this is how our government spends tax money...on people shooters.

dgr-c, nice find.

I second jrrdw on that. What a colossal waste of tax dollars. But it's just one very small example.

I don't mean to make a spudgun forum political, but I can't help it. I apologize in advance to any republicans reading this.

When George came into office, we had a surplus... You know, money in the bank. Black ink, positive numbers. Now, 6 years later, we're 9 TRILLION dollars in debt. The dollar is loosing value, most of Europe (rightfully) thinks we're stupid, we're now responsible for the mess in Iraq, and probably in Iran soon. The CIA is spying on hundreds of thousands of us without warrants. Our government can't respond to natural disasters very well. I'll get to the point:
They impeached Clinton for a blowjob.
They impeached Nixon for lying (oh my God!).
Now that Bush has lied to the American public about why we went to war, spied on hundreds of thousands of us without warrants, racked up a debt so large that we'll still be paying it off in two generations, and screwed us over in international politics... WHAT THE HELL!?!?! When does it stop?!

If the mods delete my post I'll understand, it's probably off topic, but I had to vent.

Peace,
Pete Zaria.

ya know jrrdw, you should teach me some of those niffty "loop holes" :)
I mostly agree with pete, but the government isnt to blame for the katrina after math disaster, the mayor of New Orleans declined government aid, was not willing to be helped out of a hole. (american governemt teach was blabbing about this couple weeks ago)
