I may have come up with an idea of how to use a potato as a burst disk. Have the barrel stick part way into the chamber, stab a potato onto it about half way through, once the pressure is high enough it should cut through the potato with the barrel kinfe, and let the air push it through the barrel.

hey thats not a bad idea, but maybe the combustion process is too fast or something, make one and just pump it up until it shoots

I have a 4 day weekend right now, I might have time to try this. I'm working on a way to make a homemade union, I have a rubber ring that is the exact same size as 1.5" pipe, I'll use this for the seal. I'm attempting to use Dixie Cups for burst disk.

As for the burst disk idea, it should work if you can find a way to breech load that's big enough, like 2inch in a 4inch male and female, because otherwise it's going to be hard.
