Melting Wax

What's the easiest way to melt wax? I have a microwave and a lighter, not much. Can I use the microwave with PVC? I'm gonna see how strong it is as a piston or for use as ammo/sabots.

the lighter is the best option then. there is no water in the wax so the microwave is the best choice

So either one will work? I need a way to seal 1.5" pipe without an endcap.

all you really need to do is burn a candle in a pipe with a cap, put the candle sideways so was drips in, after that, remove the cap

even better, if you have a cloth iron, use it, not too hot and not to cold

They make plug things that slide into the end of the pipe.

You can go to auto parts store and get universal freeze plugs that will hold tighter then heck.

Double-boil it on the stove in your kitchen.

I bought some paraffin to wax my guitar. 3$ for 1 liter. It comes dissolved so it's really easy to pour in molds. Just wait for the solvent to evaporate (heating helps) and you've got your wax bullet. Melting point around 50°C, so you could also melt it easily. The solvent (white spirit) REALLY stinks, so use it outdoors.

sgort87 is right-use a double boiler. If you just put it in a pan on the stove you could end up with a flash fire and singe your hair-or worse. Put it in the microwave and you may have the inside of your oven wax coated when it suddenly erupts. Play it safe and do it right.

you can use a hot plate outside or i have seen like coffe mug warmers that will work that my teacher uses to melt a candle and let off a scent. she cant have an open flame in the class for some reason.

Sounds like the easiest way is too let the candle burn itself. Double-boiling sounds like another good option. I still need a way to plug the pipe tih out an endcap, possibly sarand wrap?

P.S. Would wax make a seal against pipe on its own?

use wax paper. that worked good for me.

I might have some cookie sheets, I think they're wax, no idea. I'll check my kitchen for stuff later.

Things used to cook upon are not ever made from wax. Otherwise it would uhh, melt.
