Gort's Blue Flame II
So after 5 and a half months of waiting for parts from Joel and a month of me dicking around with it I finally finished the second edition of the launcher I broke last Halloween: The Blue Flame (I).
This time around I extended the length of the 4" pipe by 4". (So now it's 14".) I also did away with the DWV elbows and added cam-locks and a propane tank track. The flame-notched saddle was repainted and bored out a little to allow for better wire-routing.
I also did away with all exposed wires. Now there is nothing that can get caught or cause ugliness. The fan and stun gun controls are ALL in the handle. Yes, no project box! The leads go right through the chamber using machine screws.
This gun is compatable with most of my barrels including 1.25" sch80, 1.25" sch40, 1.5" sch40, 1.5" sch40 rifled, 1.5" sdr21 (golf balls), 2" sch40, 2" sch40 rifled, 2.5" sch80 (racquet balls), and 2.5" sch40 (tennis balls). I suppose I do have the adaptors to stick on my other barrels but I don't bother to.
The rifled 1.5" sch40 you will see below was modified by Joel to fit through a cam-loc and allow for breech cutting. Normally 1.25" pipe is the largest pipe to fit through a cam-loc but with some lathe work it can be done with 1.5". I found out while explaining this to Joel that Boogieman also requested the same mod job from Joel.
I'll let the pictures do the rest of the work. (Click on 'em.)

Beautiful gun! Man I love clear chambers! How much did this cost and what is the range?
Controlled insanity = Genius
Life flies when you're being dumb.

Damn thats like the 2nd coolest gun I've ever saw... #1 being the Combustion Icon
Blues my favorite color and the clear chamber rocks, I assume the giant ball valve is for venting?
Nice cannon, too many barrels... I think

I wish people would stop needing a better signature!

The gun cost me around $200 to make, counting barrels.
Not sure on range. I never am because I can't see that far and am too lazy to measure it out.
The gun used for the combustion icon here is actually very messy and only looks good because it has that "technical" look to it. I wanted mine to have everything hidden and look simpler than it really is.
Yes, the valve is for venting. While I am reloading, the valve is opened and the fan does all the work in a matter of seconds.
I like having a very large selection of barrels for a gun like this because It serves for every occasion. All my barrels are 5' long and work nicely with this gun. The golf ball and tennis ball barrels are very heavy though.
The clear chamber cracked last Halloween due to the cold temperature and the shock from using it too much that night.
For the pictures like mine first you need a high resolution picture. You then take that picture and reduce its size in MSpaint and save it as another name. You then upload both of those pictures to the web and get their URLs. Then use this code in your post:

I have the fan directed towards the barrel. So it draws air in through the valve.

The way I did it is the better way.
This way the fan is directed where it can blow at the majority of the chamber for better mixing and it is on the safe side of the spark meaning the back (front) wall keeps the pressure equalized so the fan isn't damaged during the shot.
It doesn't really matter which way it vents though.

wait thats just a normal pc fan, it can acually wistand that pressure? sry im new at this, never seem a fan used before
Of course, many combustion cannons do use those fans. You can find a few if you look through this site.

Forever dreaming...
Well on his gun the PC fan is outside of the chamber, but if their inside it still doesn't matter, the pressure goes out the barrel, not directly to the fan...irwinner wrote:wait thats just a normal pc fan, it can acually wistand that pressure? sry im new at this, never seem a fan used before

I put the fan on the outside? Really? I coulda sworn I... Well I guess not then...
No, it's definately inside the chamber. It's an 80mm 4 LED PC cooling fan. Picture 3 on the bottom row shows the electrodes for the spark and the screws for sending 12V of electricity through the chamber to the fan. You can see the red and black wires that lead to the fan.
I have no external fans, just that one.
The pressure does gto to the fan but what happens is that the pressure is all around it and in it so it doesn't matter.

I got some videos for you guys of this cannon in action.
This is a D-Cell battery shot at a computer monitor. (The sparker clicking is another cannon; the BFII has a stun gun ignition of course.) http://media.putfile.com/Monitor1
