I have decided to try to design a setup to allow direct injection of deodorant instead of propane because my parents dont like the idea of my attempting to use propane. Has this ever been done before? Also what do you think of the idea?

I've tried it, sorta. You would have to make something that would slide over the hole that the hairspray is going into, you can't use any tubes because the hairspray will condense.

Well, what i have done so far is modified the top of an empty deodorant bottle, so it sprays a mist as opposed to a liquid into the chamber here is a picture of what i have so far.

Why do they have a problem with propane? It's really not more dangerous than deodorant or hairspray. But it is more cheaper and more reliable. Well, cheaper after you buy the metering system. And actually, could be considered safer because it's going to fire every time, where aerosols have mix problems, then tend to fire hours later. And as Hank says "It's a clean burning fuel, I'll tell ya what."

Propane is safe in NSF-PW PVC... I wouldn't trust it very much in NSF-DWV, but that's the thinass fittings faults... I wouldn't really use ABS either...

If you make a propane system with 2 ball valves, a regulator, and a tank valve your most likely %100 safe...

Your more likely to get hurt by hair spray that doesn't burn at first, and then you check for a spark and burn yourself... like me :D

You're actually in more danger of a hairspray can catching on fire than a propane tank that's cut-off by 2 ball valves...

ABS works fine for combustions....even propane injected ones. My "Haughty Howitzer" is constructed of ABS with propane injected, and it hasnt failed me.

More then likely there is some propane in your aersol can that you are using. As you pointed out you have to prevent it from condesing on walls and such, although I didnt open photos because there killer on my dail-up. What prevents you from going to the hardware store and buying all necessary parts?

Or...
You can baffle with bullshit. Tell them that you want propane because you can "meter" while "aearsols" will stick to walls and can catch fire burning for a long time melting chamber. Tell them that propane is used because it wont "liquify" on the walls... That ought to get them, unless there fairly in to sceince and stuff.

my parents dont like spudguns period. My dad just hates guns period. hehe. i just kind of showed up with some abs one day and went from there. But they wont let me get into the propane thing and i dont see the point when pneumatics are just as or more powerful.

u might want to try to use 2 sprayers. Have one where u want it injected and one on the actuall can. Then connect a tube to the bottom of the injector and to the output of the one on the can. That way it still mists into the chamber. Thats the best idea ive thought of.

benstern your avatar really helped with the emotions on your last post. For the injection thing what you have right now will work good and do you have a way to press down the thingy that alows the hairspray to be released?
