Sch80 problems

Returning it would be the best option. If you decide to heat it, remember, it is PVC. PVC fumes are not good.

Ok just got the two pipes together. The sdr 21 did straighten the bend to some extent, but it's still very noticeable. Unfortunately the pipe is non returnable since it was cut and they will only sell lengths of 20ft. If nothing else it was a lesson in were not to buy pipe from. I think i will put some free weights on it to see if i can get it to relax. Thanks to everyone who tried to help me polish a turd

How about cutting it in smaller sections, say 1 foot each. Then sleeve your SDR pipe.

I was thinking of doing something like that but was wondering about the strength of it. I am afraid it would break the sdr at the seams when it tried to flex.

It should work fine. In fact, that's how BC Arms sells them here. It may not hurt to stagger the pieces like he does.

Heck, at this point its worth a shot. I'll have to try it in an hour or so and post back on the results. The barrel is going on my coax gun, the 4ft of barrel in the chamber can be as bent as it wants, its the 6ft of external barrel that I am concerned about.

I tried the segmented pipe fix with two segments ,and there is still enough of a bend in even a one foot section that it is very noticeable. I'll have to find some sch 80 from another source before i can finish this project. On a positive note, i now have a lifetimes supply of 2in adapter bits

First off Combustion Monkey....you've been doing a lot of double posting...against the rules. If you're the last poster, just edit your last post.

About that sched 80, it's a lost cause dude. I tried straightening some SDR21 1.5" with heat without much success. You aren't going to get very far with sched 80. I know you've sawed it already but the pipe is really unusable even for some standard electrical or plumbing applications.

Home Depot carrys 2" sched 80 in 10' sections. You can pick the straightest one yourself.

Very sorry for the double posting, it wont happen again. I checked our local (very small) Home Depot, they don't have sch 80. But wile I was there i came up with an idea that should work very well to solve the problem. If in fact it does work, I'll post it back up here as how to make a straight golf ball barrel from bent sch 80. Should that be a new topic or just an edit to this thread?

I wouldnt trust this pipe.
Note that besides being bent, the pipe may have other surprises.
It wouldnt surprise me if that pipe failed under its rated pressure.

I always check the ins and outs of every pipe I am about to buy. Straightness is #1 priority when it comes to selecting a pipe for a barrel.
Many pipes and other items of a hardware store are bent. You can check the straightness of it by putting it down on the floor and rolling it.

As long as he is using it for a barrel or a sleeve for a barrel it should be fine though. Unless if he uses it as a barrel with the current bend in it.
