blowgun with high pressure?

Hey all-

i was recently examining my blowgun last night and was surprised at how simple it really was..

is there any reason it shouldn't work with higher pressure and CO2?

In a bit I'm going to hook it up to an unregged CO2 tank and see what happens..

But I see no reason why it shouldn't work at higher pressures, especially if the spring tension was increased. My only worry might be freezing.

What is your guy's opinions?

Well it will probably leak like crazy, and maybe the brass threaded fitting will fail.

you think the spring will have to be too compressed?

That's what I thought too... The only reason I'm considering doing this is because my pressure washer valve is a PITA to work with...

But I may just have to...

i tested my pneumatic pellet pistol with a 800 psi tire inflator, and the trigger pull was aboutas hard as my benjamin discovery (3.5 lbs)

hmm... so did yours not leak? Granted you may have a different design of blowgun..

the only reason I'm doing this as I said is because of the awkward configuration of my pressure washer valve- getting it to configure nicely to a gun would be awkward so I'm just considering this... In an hour or so I'm going to go outside and see what happens... Hopefully nothing blows up

Any other opinions?

Well the casing may not be strong enough, or the threads may be too weak, so either the entire thing could explode, it could shoot off like a rocket, or the threads could crack, and then jet unregulated CO2 back at you, possible injecting it into your blood stream, where you die almost instantly...
I would stay a good distance away while you are testing.

Hmm... i just tested it a little..

It leaked and I was done... decided was just not worth it.

I'll go back to trying to get my pressure washer valve to configure good with the gun. It's angles are just so crappy for what I want...

OH well better safe than dead

What are the threads on most pressure washer handles? Aren't they some sort of hose fittings?

Some designs are different to others, i had one that got considerably harder to press as pressure went up.

@ Lenta-

Its not the threads that are really an issue (well one of them is that I have to tap to NPT but that's not really a problem), the issue is the stupid angles that the inlet and outlet come out of the valve... I gotta add some elbows to be able to get it to fit correctly... and it just takes up more space...
