Solvent Welding

I'm about to begin Solvent Welding my first pneumatic cannon ( or for that matter, my first cannon ever. ). I read the Burnt Latke thing on welding, but I also reading the warning on the primer. It says not to touch the primer. Also, If I were to do this in my garage w/ the door open, or just outside it, would there be a risk for when a car starts since the fumes are flammable, plus what precautions should I take: gloves, goggles, etc.?

you can do it in your garadge. dont worry it you will be fine. you dont need gloves unless you want them. and dont worry about touching the primer. be sure to put on plenty of glue and give it a 90 degree turn. wipe off the extra with a DAMP not wet rag. remember extea glue can be painted over but too little glue cannot be fixed. good luck and remenber just relax

I do my welding outside because of the fumes. I think it would be wise to wear goggles cause the fumes can sometimes burn your eyes a bit, as for gloves I would say meh, but use em if you dont want a purple finger nail like I had for a few days..

Yes, you can ware a HAZMAT suit when you shit but it is overkill. Just do it and don't be conserned.

I do it in my garage, fumes dont bother me. You should be fine the only way the fumes can combust is if you are in a enclosed space, dont let the warning labels and stuff scare you.

The whole 90 degree thing is when you are putting together the glue parts you "spin" them so if in the event you missed a spot, it smears glue in the void and more evenly over the whole joint. This should be done quickly though, and not after the glue has started to set.

Since im not a big fan of glue/ primer stains, I keep a rag handy. After I glue it, I hold it against the floor to make sure it doesnt pop back out. While doing this I wipe away excess and putting my index finger on the rag and wiping that "corner".

I also suggest the clear glue, and if possible clear primer. Although clear primer is found on a rarity since its commonly clear cleaner in its place. Hope all goes well!
