look at a spyder paintball gun its a blow back hammer valve and if u get one cheap mod it to use .22 or .177 pellets it will put a .22 at around 600fps
dont play with airsofter with 1000$ gun and play with a 5 dollar pair of glasses

In my experiences with hammer valves unless your using HIGH Pressures there not really going to help you!!

Don't get me wrong I am a massive fan of the hammer valve and that’s all I’ve been working on for a while now but as they are usually used in smaller cal. guns there flow is quite small, quick and sometimes restrictive, needing the use of a higher pressure. .. 8)

It also depends on what you are looking to make in the term of a hammer valve?? Do you want a more traditional hammer valve like a straight through (condor / talon etc) or over under like most Pcp rifles??

In my opinion (yes my opinion 8) ) ,the best hammer valve here would probably have to be the one in Gippeto's High pressure co-axial used to fire it. Have a look at his page and the valve, that would be the best bet if you were able to get into a machine shop (or if you’re talented enough  ) . And he has "Passed hydro like 6000psi was nothing!" with this valve so it would be a perfect repeater on Co2 or Hpa...

OR

If you want to stay on lower level (or higher.. im not starting anything  ) of pressure and you Don’t mind if it vents/pilots JSR has a good co-ax hammer valve setup (here) Which I’ve made a cheap copy of and worked really well, and was easy to make .

The only problem I have come across is the hammer weight!!(Not really a problem more of a tuning :D) As the pressure goes up so does the weight of the valve to hit, that’s why you see most home made PCP’s have such big bulky hammers.

I wish you all the best if you do make one, please let us know how it goes :salute:

I didn't want to make one, I just always hear people mentioning it and I had no idea what it was. Thanks for the info though :)

you said poppet valve im guessing you play paintball? if you do its like the valve a spyder would have, there the pin against the valve which is held in place by the pressure of the gas behind it, and sometimes with a spring too, then it is struck by the hammer which has spring pressure

Dude I understood the concept like a week ago... It's sort of an old thread.

Id like to clarify the terms in real firearm terms - as they are always wrong when relating to paint guns, air rifles, etc.

The most commonly found valves in said items do require a blow, or a knock to open them or, more realistically, a "strike".

Here's what I am referring to: A "Hammer" travels in an arc; a "striker" travels in a linear path. Most of the valves we will deal with in our hobby field are "striker" designed valves and not hammer, as they use a striker incorperated in the design.

While both the striker and hammer will activate the valves, it really is important to distinguish between the two concepts. Consumers are bad about getting it wrong - but the manufacturers are even worse, further paving the way for wrong terminology to be used.

Yeah but in saying that we are not talking about the activation of the Valve as such, but the actual valve itself which would be considered a hammer valve purely because of the way it is activated...

Yes I agree with you that the terminology would need to be correct in the terms of activation but over all no matter which way the valve is setup it is still a hammer valve .. 8)
