Aluminium is softer... MUCH softer. You wouldn't believe how easy it is to hack that stuff up. Also, on McMaster, the stainless is actually cheaper than brass or aluminium. But aluminium and brass are VERY soft. I've taken chunks out of aluminium and brass parts with my vice, only scratches with steel parts.

well it really depends on the temper and make-up of the metals, jack hogg used his aluminum piston to more than 35 bar with no bumper, and it wasn't damaged at allsaefroch wrote:Aluminium is softer... copper pipe here is none reliable with limited attachment's and more work the galvanized pipe seems better that the only work it needs is to drill out the inner weld.
the one way valve will be the only real work needed.
