O-rings generally require an O-ring groove and a smooth surface to seal on. If you're trying to ask JSR personallly though, just PM him

That doesn't really help though..seeing how I need a flat seal...and thats for a piston..on a sidenote, I have no access to a drill press, although I can probably use a makeshift one by using a vise and a low/high powered drill. My previous, although failed seal, was a O-ring stuck to a piece of flat epoxy putty, which I then drilled a hole in, and then placed the rod through the hole. I then put more epoxy behind the epoxy putty so air wouldn't leak from the hole, but the epoxy putty isn't totally flat, and air leaks out from the sides of the O ring(against epoxy putty, because the PUTTY isn't flat enough...) Basically, my idea of the seal wasn't so bad in my opinion, but I can't get the O-ring to be completely air tight due to the lack of a true flat surface.

A bit confusing, but I also figured a few pieces of flat wood, some O-rings, and glue will do the trick, but the valve body is made of pipe, and I don't have any stores selling 1 in pipe cutters near my area. So, I need some sort of workaround XD

For a flat surface the o ring on the end of the barrel of my Mouse Musket is the other configuration.

Mouse Musket valve seat is an o ring secured on the end of the barrel at the breech.

An o ring is made to seal between two cylindrical surfaces, not two flat ones. Use rubber washers/sealing faces.
