Lol!
For the sake of getting this project done I'm using the brackets... should I paint them black for you guys?
They have the added side effect of being able to incorporate ANY 3" chamber X 1.5" barrel design in the future (i.e. a sch80 retrofit for 50X shots)
I kinda liked them though
I may add another one for the barrel side in the middle of the two there now.
Dewey - yes that's the base to a singer. I have a complete one at home - we just use that as a base to a table.
The only thing stopping recoil in this design is the mass of the system - which should be enough.
Man everyones hatin on ma' brackets! dey even da delux cush-clamp brand yo!
::EDIT::

BTW just had a eureka moment for a simple designed elevation adjustment mechanism... cost just went from $30 and waiting 2 days to $5 and immediate fabrication
I'm picking up all the goodies (electronics/pnuematics) so hopefully I can start laying them out and fabbing up the faceplate of of some sheet S/S i have.
I may be making a APFSDS or two since I have alot of sheilding gas left in my tanks!
Got the first coat of black paint on the stand and it looks 76% meaner now :drunken:
End MC :sign4:
::EDIT squared::
Welded up the elevation adjustment tonight and it works great! Its about 5" in front of the pivot point on the frame and offers adjustment from about 35degrees up down to about 5-10 degrees below horizontal (downhill shots, shots into water... etc) It works by threading a piece of 5/8"-11 all-thread in and out of a cylinder - very similar to a gas spring except the shaft is aloud to spin freely at the top eyelet. saved me $30 for a sub-par turnbuckle with similar adjustment stroke (actually 1" less!).
I'm sanding the 1st coat now because it didn't quite come out as good as i'd like (its just a gun... right? ) so I'll have a shot of the gun assembled and painted up tomorrow night.
Here are some pics of the elevation adjustment:
This elevation system is another good example of using a CAD program to optimize a design before setting foot on the shop floor
I like progress...
