Okay, since I gave up on the piston valve I would like to ask a few questions about something else.

1. Is there another type of valve that's really simple other than sprinkler valves? It can be slightly harder to make than Piston valves.

2. Can a Ball valve air gun be made strong enough to launch a dart straight up to 100 meters?

3. Can someone explain to me how this works?

4. If I was to attach 2 or 3 50mm PVC pipe, about 1 - 2 foot long each to a ball valve air gun as air chambers, pumped to 120 PSI, would it be strong and what capabilities in shooting projectile could be reached?

5. Lastly, What is a hybrid spud gun?

Thanks for reading, If you'll answer one of my question please put the number of the question behind your text so I know which question your talking about.

You are by no means what so ever ready to know how it works if you can't figure out a simple piston valve! 3 & 5.

1. You can make a QDV valve for a coaxial gun. I'll edit in a link when I find one.

2. Spring loading a ball valve, given the right dimensions and ammo, can be more powerful than piston valves given the amazing flow through a ball valve.

3/5.That is a hybrid combustion gun. It uses metered fuel and air pressurized in the chamber with a piston specially designed to pop open at a certain pressure after combustion. It it far more complicated than pneumatics or regular combustions. Jrrdw is right. Stay away from hybrids.

4. That depends on the size of the valve and barrel but it can be very powerful.

learn how to make a piston valve, once you understand it and are able to build it, you can use those principals to make and design other valves.

as tallahassee said spring loading a ball valve will give you very good performance (before you ask no one will find you a step by step tutorial on how to make one, use search on this site and google).

The only other option that I can think of is a burst disc or valveless design. QDVs are a type of piston valve, and may be more difficult to build.

Yes, if you're willing to put up with possibly crazy dimensions.

That's SpudBlaster15's newest hybrid. Thread is here.

I cannot answer your question. You have not specified barrel dimensions, a projectile, or expected range.

Your username seems more and more apt... There is an entire section of the wiki on hybrids! :banghead:

You could try a qev, its less confusing than a piston, but is pretty much the same thing. I had a hard time as well with the piton valve but once I had one in my hands it was so simple!!! Keep studying them and you will get it sooner or later. Try to find jor2dazes diagram of a 13 dollar piston valve, its easy!! If someone knows what I am talking about, can you please post for this guy!!!

Ok guys, Thanks for all the help suggestions ect.
I'd like to build a spring powdered ball valve. If I am correct a spring powered ball valve is the one with the piece of string attached to a spring, trigger and the ball valve handle?

I'm going to do some research now. Thanks again guys.
