The outage was unexpected.. It seems to be working now. Thanks for all the hard work in bringing it back from the dead.

One minor request, any future upgrades, please give advance notice so we don't think the worst has happened to SF such as hostile governemt takeover, hacking or DOS attacks, etc. Thanks.

Tech has a point, from some of the messages, I thought Spudfiles had become the victim of a DOS attack.

Yeah, especially the "exceeded MAX_USERS" one. I have no idea who would do the to spudfiles, but...

It also seems that the forum global announcement now "does not exist" when clicked on.

It's located on the Main Page, clicking the link to the actual announcement wont work.
Sorry for the downtime folks, I had the SpudFiles server upgraded to prevent some of the recent memory and database errors we were having. In order to do this, SpudFiles had to be moved from 1 server to another. During the upgrade however, some things went wrong and the migration had to be redone.

Please let me know if anyone notices anything wrong! If you see something, please start a thread in Website Discussion.

Thank you!

Thanks, I also agree with Tech though. If the site is going to be offline, we should be notified before hand.

Trust me guys, if I could have gave warning/a message I would have. The server move was out of desperation, as myself nor my host could keep SpudFiles online. When you guys were receiving the error messages, I was unable to redirect pages to a "down" message. The server upgrade was unplanned.

Sorry for the scare! Anytime I plan work on SpudFiles that will disable access, I give notice.

PC, might I suggest some sort of email notification? So if SF has to go down rapidly for a emergency server change or something, a bot will send out an email to all users and say "We're sorry for the scare but Spudfiles has encountered an emergency server change. We hope to be back online soon!" Or something along those lines?

Some down time is not something that needs to scare people, the government has much better things to do than tracking down a couple dozen hobbyists

Why? PCGUY gives us a place to freely use almost everyday of the year. If it's down for maintainance for a few days....what's the big deal? It not like the threads discussed here are a matter of National Security and must continue without interruption.
