Good to see you're actually putting something together :) that piston is begging to be made slightly lighter... "groooove mee..." I can hear it!

Trying not to spend extra money (if there is such a thing  ) so I just used a piece of aluminum I had in the draw. So far I got about 10 dollars wrapped up into parts, most of that is PVC.

I found some time to drill and tap the brass elbow for the metal shrader valve. Just got to drill holes for the plug hold in screws then test fire...

Here's a pic of the fill and pilot assembly.

Well I'll give today's test a 50% success. Chamber held pressure, piston sealed until I pulled the tire inflator off the schrader valve. I could not for the life of me remove the air source fast enough to keep the schrader from piloting the cannon!

I just ordered a check valve from McMaster-Carr I'm hoping that will solve the issue. Another thing I want to change is the plug/cylinder. It works, but not reliable. Approximately every 5th 'fill and pop' the piston would not reseal because of tilting. So I'll make a plug/cylinder combo from aluminum.

That bodes well for perfomance, it wouldn't happen if the valve was inefficient.

All you have to do is connect the schrader to the exit port of the blowgun, remove the stem to allow unobstructed flow, then simply hold the blowgun open while filling ;)

I was thinking about using a 1/8" ball valve but that is getting a way from keeping it small. The check valve is in-line with nothing sticking out of it.

If I remove the valve core there will be nothing to depress the valve in the tire inflator. I like the idea though, I could mod the schrader valve with a staionary pin that wont cut the flow off prehaps...

That would work but defeat the portabilty I'm looking for. I should have the check valve in a few days. I'm interested in seeing how that pans out.

All right McMaster-Carr decided to cancel my order according to them a "open account" has to be backed by a credit card. That to me is a "secured account" so they can do with out any more of my money...

So I took a ride to get a replacement quick connect and picked up a lock on tire inflator with a built in guage.

http://www.harborfreight.com/dual-chuck ... 68272.html and http://www.harborfreight.com/tire-chuck ... 68267.html I'm shooting at about 110psi.

Here'a 1 of the shots, turn your speakers up because you can hear it better then see it. :D
