yagi, dish or better yet
a canteena designed for the needed frequency... you could pretty much eliminate unwanted interferences. Try to prove it has been used

Silent Falcon
Uh oh...A weaponized variant called ‘Snipe’ is also considered. According to Silent Falcon UAS, this drone will be configured as a ‘flying machine gun’, carrying a specialized suppressed weapon firing standard FN 5.7×28 ammunition at high precision from a distance beyond 200 meters.

They could get better endurance from a standard gas engine
http://www.uavfactory.com/product/46
This has 20+ hour endurance and it's not even very fancy or state of art
They could focus on increasing fuel economy or perhaps muffling the exhaust so it's much quieter

Did you miss the part where they basically want to turn it into a fixed wing version of this?

No I didn't, but it can be done with most UAVs. It seems it's going to be fixed to the airframe - I wonder how it's going to affect aiming. Personally I'd like to see something like OV10 BRONCO with a proper turret mounted MG

A turret is just extra weight - if you have a computer that is controlling the plane, it makes sense to just stick the gun out of the side like a regular fixed wing gunship. Combine an optical sight with a laser rangefinder and you're golden.Personally I'd like to see something like OV10 BRONCO with a proper turret mounted MG

Yeah, I know I know, but you could do that to any UAV. So there's nothing special to it really.jackssmirkingrevenge wrote:A turret is just extra weight - if you have a computer that is controlling the plane, it makes sense to just stick the gun out of the side like a regular fixed wing gunship. and I don't think 5.7mm is sufficient for this purpose

Dont need a turrent, Just have a Carbon fiber HPA tank as the quadcopter body, put the arms in a h formation. Then attach a vortex block and you have 1500 rounds per second of pure high velocity terror (Who needs aim when your shooting that fast)
i don't know if iam writing in the wright spot if not iam sorry but I have a but load of fixed wing aircraft brushless, four stroke, 2 stroke nitro 2 stroke gas but my hex copter will carry more payload and still be flyable the planes get shitty with a lot of wingloadjackssmirkingrevenge wrote:Yup, as often discussed, unless awkward maneuvering is involved, a fixed wing plane is quieter, can carry a heavier payload faster and further.

Lol that's not what expected... I assumed it a demonstration of club-k system or something along the lines of their UAV deployed using MLRS

My thoughts exactly, the Club-K made sense at least but this is a complete work of fiction, it would be obliterated by a basic air defense system before it got within range to use its weapons.I assumed it a demonstration of club-k system

There are videos of the drone though. Here's one ->>
Found it mentioned on a couple of forums and in articles so it's got to be true Seems legit and reminds me of that guy who was supposedly designing a gun lunched version of it and looking for advice so he started a thread here

Awesome! Reminds me of ground launched version of the Small Diameter Bomb which Boeing are developing.
Speaking of MLRS warheads, did you see the Enhanced Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS) Retrofit Program?
See pages 13 and 14
Patent.
