Does any one know how this works
http://profhk.www2.50megs.com/product/b ... bac38.htm?

I have two ideas about cartridges.
1) Use DR Gen II hybrid fueling system to make small hybrid cartridges, tell me if this is a good idea or not
2) Dry Ice cartidges. Have a small chamber and have a burst disk that NEEDS to be penetrated in order for the cartridge to go off.

If you guys are interested in discusing this then post your replys and etc and I will post my concept pictures.

The main things I want to know is which one would be powerfull enough to be able to make semi auto gun with reasonable power and reasonable cycling rate.

hybrids are dangerous, do you have exreme experience with hybrids and combustions?

and for the burst disk you would need a union, and they are bulky

I have access to a lathe so I think I would be able to manufacture my own cartridges that are not bulky yet have a union in them. The desgin I have though does not use a union, its just a piston that is always sealed untill you hit it with a hammer.

Hey, I think somebody already thought up a hybrid auto-cannon… Oh yeah, it was me!
Have you seen my proposed gun?

Looked at the pic, all I see is a coaxial cannon.
I had an idea for pneumatic cartridges; basically you had an air chamber with a burst disk on the end, after it was pressurized the round would be placed in the cannon with the burst disk facing backwards and a pin punctured the burst disk shooting the case as the ammo.

Wouldnt it be easier to perhaps use air rams to acutate a bolt? That way if you really wanted to get into it, you could use some timers and have it so that when the trigger is pulled the valve opens, and then as the projectile leaves the barrel, an air ram opens the breach and a round can fall in and also the spent round falls out the side or bottem. Finally the ram can be pulled back shut by use of a spring if the ram is a single way. Wouldnt that work?

Can you post a link to your cannon? I said lets use DR Gen II hybrid filling system because it is cheap and it will be easier to fill up the cartridges, even the pneumatic ones, its like a cheap compressor. I am just trying to come up with some kind of round that is cheaply produced and doesnt use gun powder so that we can have semi auto spudguns... Sorry if I somehow offended some one

Here you go:
A.H.C.XM000

You know I’d actually like to see this built, but I don’t have the funds to make it, perhaps we could work out a deal, I provide more detailed instructions, you do make the gun, and we both share the credit 50/50.

This is the patent of the catridge you linked to:

compressed gas ammunition for guns

It's filled with compressed air, a pellet is placed at the mout of the cartridge and is fired by the firing pin of the weapon striking the gentral piston, breaking the seal at the front which allows the air to escape and fire the pellet.

It works at around 1,000 psi so not a practical proposition for DIY launchers made of plastic.
