The other half of the tennis ball, just scrap the fuzz off.

Thanks hubb017, I'm pretty sold on the felt and rubber. And won't a plastic cap break under the pressure? Won't the round shape of the ball affect the sealing?

The cap is filled with epoxy or similar, the point I was trying to make was that the fit is EXTREMELY good. Sorry for the confusion. :D
The deodorant I was talking about has flat lids, so the seal is easy to make. Even if it was rounded, the seal could still be made with neoprene, assuming the rounding isn't extreme.
Yeah, we wouldn't want to anger the bees, now would we??

Go to the how to section, and look for a topic by me telling you how to make 2" pistons, it should be top of the page.

Search next time.

If you are referring to the deoderant cap, it may break on the recoil, if a proper bumper is not used. Fill the cap with expanding foam, such as Great Stuff, and place the tennis ball half on the back to act as the bumper.

As far as the round shape, I would assume you are referring to having the ball used as a seal face. I haven't tried that but you could probably fill this up with Great Stuff as well and it should seal okay.

I have a can that fits very c good in a 3in pipe. I'm planning on melting some hot glue, and sinking the cut tennis ball into the open end while the glue is still hot. As for the sealing face, you know the puzzle peice like flooring that kids play with? I was thinking the flat side of that will work.
