Will walmart take any brand of CO2 tank?

As far as I know, yes.
My Ma' works in the sporting good department at the local China~Mart and's never said they don't.


Lentamentalisk, I've done it, I know of a bunch of people who've done it.


the pin valve has ASA threads, and the threads that go into the tank are not standard pipe threads.
the valve was torqued on there to 60-75ft-lbs, it's going to take some effort.

The tanks threads are semi-compatible with 3/8" npt.

Someone found that some sort of taper or compression thread fit on the inside nice, I dont remember who.

Just bring it to lowes, and sit in the brass fitting area for a while. Youll find something that fits nice.

This is a little off topic but i have made far better find when it comes to CO2 tanks. Here in switzerland aquarium CO2 tanks are used only once and it is expensive to refill them so most of the time they are just thrown out. In other words i own 7 500g CO2 whixh are all hydro tested, the problem is we barely have paint balls or other places to refill them, But the cost was exactly 0.00$...Maybe you will find some tanks at an aquarium store to... I might sell the tanks on Ebay for 5-10$ each, i guess it would be a nice little way to make money. Sorry going off topic

I believe the threads in paintball tanks are 5/8 - 18 UNF. The valve is likely to be installed with thread locker.

Some heat may be in order.

well it is true that some tanks' valves are installed with thread locker, that one looks like it was made before DOT changed the rules allowing thread locker.

still, a little hot water can't hurt, although one should NEVER directly apply heat to a Co2 tank as it can ruin the temper and void the hydro (not that it matters in this case though).
