performace: lead air gun pellet: 550fps @ 150psi
Quite impressive, about the same power level as your average air rifle. At 550 psi it should be a blast :)

i am using a sturup pump made from 1/2inch copper so i can easily get up past 600psi but at those pressures its a bitch and a half to pump up. that and the gauge is supposed to go to 400psi but i modded it to 600. and i am assuming the worst and losing 50psi when i detach the gun from pump. i can get that pressure even with a 75psi cracking pressure check valve.

and yes 550psi is very nice and powerful. but the push button valve is quite hard to push at that pressure. so i think i have to build a balanced valve. lead pellets are completly destroyed at 870fps (559psi) and are in about 8 very flat peices after impacting a steel target

UPDATE!

i added a stock, sights and redid my pilot area. with the stock and sights i am able to shoot 4inch groups at 10yards and ball bearings despite my horrible shooting abilities.

<a href="http://s696.photobucket.com/albums/vv32 ... 0_9159.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i696.photobucket.com/albums/vv32 ... 0_9159.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

my stock, needs to be finished off yet and get hose clamps instead of the zipties.

<a href="http://s696.photobucket.com/albums/vv32 ... 0_9137.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i696.photobucket.com/albums/vv32 ... 0_9137.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

front sight, i soldered it on using only a solder gun and electrical solder :D it was a pain in the ass....

<a href="http://s696.photobucket.com/albums/vv32 ... 0_9139.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i696.photobucket.com/albums/vv32 ... 0_9139.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

back sight is just a groove cut into the street elbow

<a href="http://s696.photobucket.com/albums/vv32 ... 0_9138.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i696.photobucket.com/albums/vv32 ... 0_9138.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

redone pilot area and push button valve. as you can see it give me a lot of extra leverage and now 550psi piloting is easy. also i dropped some more cash on the way over priced brass and got it to all but one fitting in brass

hope you like!

Surely this is capable of better accuracy, I think your sights are letting you down. Why not invest a couple of bucks in a 4x20 scope.

Hmm, this is really nice looking, should of told me that pic of a paper clip soldered onto a pipe would end up looking like THiS! Very shiny, though personally i don't see why bother invest in brass, when alli is just as shiny, that said, good job on it, looks fairly clean.

May i suggest altering the stock so that it looks like a real one, which means making one with holes for all the internal parts so just a small portion if the trigger is showing, just enough to fire. This should too improve your accuracy by a bit, if you do it correctly and with care.

I agree to jsr that the sights may be letting you down, so i suggest following his advice.

This gun is a smooth bore which i find a bit of a pity as perhaps with a rifled barrel the performance, mainly in terms of accuracy, would be a lot better. So if you have a chance of changing the barrel to a rifled one(of coarse then it won't be brass...) i would recommend doing so.

Last but not least, i really like the slugs you made, mainly the lead ones, and wanted to ask if you used a set up like gippeto does does for making his slugs, or if you have another method, which most probably would be interesting to hear about, not only for me.

Happy spudding and good job on the gun.

Looks good. Stock could use a little paint.

Whats up with the long pipe to the shrader? LOTS of extra pilot volume!

oh i know that my sights can be better. my friend can just pick it up and shoot better standing than i can when i am sitting and have a support. so part of the reason i can only get 4inch groups is my shooting skill. the other main part is the gun/sights. and now i know that i can get a sight for that cheep i just might get one...

stock will be painted very soon. cant decide on color though

and the pipe to the shrader is the handle. i am goin to be modding it to reduce the volume

i did a major power upgrade today. i reduced the pilot volume alot and i used a different nipple that was a better fit on my piston (i also lightened this)

<a href="http://s696.photobucket.com/albums/vv32 ... 0_9186.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i696.photobucket.com/albums/vv32 ... 0_9186.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

i painted the stock flat black. but more importantly you can see the reduced pilot volume. first i moved the schador off that pipe and put it in the back. since i still needed that pipe for a handle i pluged off the end that threads into the tee so now doesnt hold pressure. also on the back the 3/8 nipple looks funny because i taped the inside of it to 1/4inch and then the street elbow can thread into the inside of it. also to avoid more volume for the newly move shrador i dirlled and tap right into the street elbow.

NOW FOR DAMAGE!

<a href="http://s696.photobucket.com/albums/vv32 ... 0_9185.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i696.photobucket.com/albums/vv32 ... 0_9185.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

shot at a copper decrative pan thingy using 550psi and steel bearings. it cuts nice little circles of copper out :D one shot even when through two of these things

<a href="http://s696.photobucket.com/albums/vv32 ... 0_9190.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i696.photobucket.com/albums/vv32 ... 0_9190.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

this is what rele impressed me. the bearing is after being shot at the steel it is sitting on at 550psi, you can see the dent it made to the left of it and that it now has a nice big flat side. the middle one on the bottom is a lead slug at 500psi before todays upgrade. bottom left is 550psi after todays upgrade and was traveling at an estemated 618 according to ggdt. i like that one ALOT. bottom left is just an example of what the slugs would have looked like before impact

I like :) I had the same flattening BB issues with my 9mm project, so much for being reusable

Ah that looks good!

Nice damage pics!

thanks you guys. yeah even at 125psi if i accidentily hit anougher bearing in the target box they both get dents, these arent too bad and are still useable. at 550psi most of the challenging targets rendure them useless.

the lead slug that i am firing is from a split mold that i made, they way 45 grains so 600fps with them is pretty good imo.

and smaller pilot helps a ton

Very cool. The power is very good and I like the dented steel ammo. Nice upgrades by the way.

That's around 35 ft/lbs, what most high powered '22 air rifles manage ;)

That is a really nice looking gun . I'm thinking of using pieces from my propane metering device to make an all-metal gun similar to this. How fast does it shoot compared to an average pellet rifle?
