Lol, ive used pencil erasers as pistons before, they work decent but they will fail quickly when your barrel eventually pushes through the soft rubber.
Yeah, it's that important.

Sort of... not all super glue may be cyanoacrylate, and not all cyanoacralate adhesives are super glue.

So, in a word, yes.

Cool, if that is the way to go then I guess I'll pick some up. The face on my piston is neoprene, cut out from a rubber washer. Should this be strong enough?

Superglue is a brand name much like Pepsi is for a caffinated cola soft drink. There are other colas besides Pepsi, but the formulation varies a bit between brands. The same is true for Superglue and other cyanoacrlate glues.
