A slide valve would need the fill valve on the outlet to work.

Yes, I know but you can attach slide valve directly to the QEV. The blowgun needs lots of reducers, as it is 1/4'' and the QEV is 3/4''. I have built a PVC manifold that has a Schrader valve on it.

No, but I still have the fill valve to deal with, and I built this gun mostly out of PVC so it isn't perfectly compact. Plus I didn't even know I had a problem when I built the gun.
