10x? If you didn't know, that's 147 psi and the combustion would produce over 600 psi. Gas motors don't usually use compressed air.

think about a gas dirtbike engine the cylinder is aluminum with nikasil plating
when you do a compression test it should be in between 90 and 100 PSI at idle speed its way more once its revving

So a gas engine is a fully automatic hybrid that pushes a piston back and forth
and you can completly stop the ALUMINUM piston just after it ignites (by stalling it) and guess what it doesent explode even when its on nitrous (nitrous is an oxidiser )

so how is a 1/8 inch thick STEEL going to explode?

Isn't the aluminum used in engines anodized? If so, that makes the inner and out layers of aluminum aluminum oxide, the second hardest substance known.
