my dad isnt bothering me about math all the time
    i can have cannons
one of my friends is already there
    i can have TV/360

Well you need to tell him that videogames have evolved from the mindless electronic music and pointless objectives that he thinks games are. Many modern games are made as realistically as possible. Modern games have evolved into stories that you write yourself, ie KOTOR I&II. Many games involve complex puzzles and convoluted storylines which require a great amount of critical thinking and intellectual skill. Games will often put oyu in a scenario which requires split-second decision on your part in order to survive and attain the objectives at hand.

Skills required to play Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic effectively:

Good memory and organization of that memory. KOTOR has many convoluted storylines that intertwine with each other at times, but must remain distinct at other times. It is left up to the player to remember certain objectives and hints at how to complete the objectives at hand.

Problem solving and critical thinking skills. One must often have an intimate knowledge of the characters abilities and weaknesses to overcome obstacles. Also, puzzles are often posed to the player which must be completed correctly. One that I remember is a challenge in which the player must place energy rings in a certain order, you cn find the specifics at a game site. Also, the player is given an optional side quest in which he must deduce the killer of a man, problem solving skills and an ability to read inferences is a must

Diplomacy. The player is faced with several situations in which two factions are opposed to each other and the player must find a way to put them at peace with each other. Also, the players actions have an effect on how those around him/her act and feel about the player. The player must be cautious of his/her words and actions in order to maintain a proper relationship with companions.

Another great game is The Elder Scrolls: Morrowind. That has to be the most complicated game I've ever played. It has the most convoluted storylines I have ever worked with. Requires a good amount of intelligence to play it correctly.

I read a story a while back about some kid who lost like 200 pounds playing DDR for a year. That was his exercise. Kid apparently weighed like 350 pounds and his parents got the idea to buy him a DDR game and he lost 200 pounds with that as his only exercise. Videogames prolly saved that kids life.

Find ways to show him that YOU can regulate your gaming. Show him by doing other similar self control type things. If your parents are out, instead of watching the telly clean the windows or fold the laundry. Stuff like that will convince them that you won't overuse the 360, and that you will limit yourself.

I can game for almost as long as I want now, because I always complete my homework, I stay active, and don't get in trouble at school. My parents have learnt to trust me to manage my own time.

Oh and to all the arguments between ps3 and xbox 360, right now I have a ps2 and a fairly powerful pc. I'm gonna wait a while and see which console comes out on top befoure buying. Don't rush in and buy a console, then regret your decision later.
I wonder how much deeper the ocean would be without sponges.
Right now I'm having amnesia and deja vu at the same time. I think I've forgotten this before.

Also A-98 talk to your dad about the usefulness of Live.It is a great way to learn how to get along with people from other geographic locations. It teaches people skills. My best friend was deathly shy until he got XBOX Live and now he will actually do stuff for himself(now to get him a girlfriend). And use KOTOR as an example of an educational game.It is wonderful for promoting critical thinking.Good luck man.

Oh my god, whatever you do, DON'T GET ELDER SCROLLS 4!.
There are very few (if any) games that will destroy your life with more precision than oblivion.

I think my game clock was at about 250 hours when I beat the damn thing, and I still play it every once in a while (on my computer; dont have an xbox).

From what I hear gears of war is nice and short, but the multiplayer is what you really buy it for.

Who wants to think while they are playing video games? Get the 360 so you can play Halo 3 and slay bitches! Shoot first and ask questions later, dipolmacy and plot lines suck.
