Problem: that solenoid doesn´t work
cause: the solenoid hammer has too little travel distance, less than 2cm and I need about 2.5 cm for the valve to operate correctly
Pneumatic cylinder are too expensive and big, anybody have alternative for me? thanks

I have thought about making my own coil, but considering with the battery I'm going to use it has to be made with very thin coil, with the size of the coil in mind it would be a hell of work to make a proper one. I'm now try to see if it's possible make a serviceable hammer for the solenoid. Thx for the circuit btw, even though I don't know if it works, but it's a start point at least

could you wrap insulated copper wire or magnet-wire around a reel thats used for holding thread for sewing and discharge a capacitor through it like a coilgun but instead of using the coil gun to shoot projectiles, shoot a rod into the hammer like a solenoid

I though the idea was that the solenoid hits a hammer that is not actually attached to it?

I thought about the idea of "shot" the hammer, and it would work, but charge capacitor is difficult, I can't get a transformer that doesn't burns out quick.
Jack if the hammer is float, I need a low friction travel base to hold the hammer, but even if the friction is really low, the small amount of power the solenoid gives (0.8 N) still going to be wast quite a lot

Travel can be mechanically amplified
naaah just get a real solenoid that can do some work
found one in an old electronic typewriter (thought it was a printer as I got it partially disassembled)...

Pascal thinks that is boring

Oh well

I still need +-0.6 N to open the valve, I better start looking a serviceable solenoid, or buy a stronger battery, so the hammer has enough energy to operate the valve without extra travel distance.

i still think a motor with eccentric cam driving the hammer would be much simpler.

It would be much easier, but semi auto operation is quite difficult to achieve, even through full auto and burst fire is very easy :p I meant give it a try

50£ for one cylinder

and I will have to buy a electric 3-way to actuate it too
