1 of a few ways to save either the pipe or the fitting.

start at bottom pic and go up

push screwdrivers in between ftg and pipe

Wouldn't that ruin he structural integrity of the fitting by heating it?

I certainly wouldn't reccommend using this strategy, it would probably ruin the fitting even more, and it will give you cancer.
It's hard to soar with eagles when you're working with turkeys.

I definetly wouldn't recommend doing this and using the fitting again in a gun. You just don't know if it could damage the fitting and it's just not worth it. Just don't mess up the first time, and if you do then just buy a new one.
