Colossus

*This is my current work I like to call Colossus. It is finished enough to me to the point were I am satisfied enough to post it. Details and more things to follow as well.**

Why did I build this beast? Well I like to think of myself as someone who likes to get thrills and freaked out, but retain some sort of control. With the size of this I think I achieved it.

Chamber: 4"ID x 30" long
Barrel: 2" ID x 30" long
Valve: 2" Tee Valve/Barrel Sealing. Cap dead space (and some additional portions) of the tee are filled with hot glue to help "guide air flow but eliminate the flow restrictions as much as possible.
Fill Point/Valve Actuation: Quick Connect/ MIT Blow Gun
Piston: Sealing face is 1/8 of plumbing gasket material. Piston body is a piece of neoprene rubber that fits in the 2" tee with a oring to seal. (Pics of this will be up soon hopefully too)


**Has small air leak from the barrel but the sealing face is just dirty from pvc dust and will have damage/performance video soon**

kewl, make the barrel longer and you'll get a noticeable power increase.

What pressure do use it at?

125psi. I have a guage that will be installed soon too, its old and looks pretty sweet. I will eventually paint it too to match a theme or something. Im an art student but Im also certified in D1.1 mig,tig, stick, and OA gas. Random but i thought it was funny.

Is your chamber attached by an elbow epoxied into an end cap?

I used an elbow and sheet pvc to make my own bushing (Inside chamber) since I had no access to a rated fitting that would reduce that much. The end caps I had so I just used both, one might of not been neccessary but I used it incase.

From my experience in this field I would say that is much less safe than say... a gauge threaded into a chamber. Something you made it clear you thought was a very dangerous prospect. All I can say is, having your chamber blow off has the potential to do things much worse than force you to suck down space lunches while your jaw heals.

I appreciate the concern and will see if I can revise the chamber a bit and secure it some better way.

Reminds me of the way akb used to build his launchers. Though, I think he only told people to use them at really low pressures... but I still thought it was unsafe.
