People have onboard propane, why not onboard compressed air? I'm thinking something like here could work, but one problem. Could I change it to run off batterys instead of a cigarrette lighter in a car?

But it takes way too much time to pump and this wouldn't be a portable cannon. I would have it all mounted on a 3-axis stand.

get a few of those hobby shop batteries, or for outlets find a transformer(the black boxes you plug into walls and stuff to recharger lower power stuff look for one thats says "output:DC 12V" and strip and wire the contacts together.

I wouldn't recommend crappy 12v air compressors their slow they overheat and break easily, make sure you check the warning labels on over heating, I got a crappy 12v the thing is a battery power center thing for road side stuff like jump starting the battery and even has an inverter, the built in air compressor takes 10 minutes to fill my handheld gun to 100psi, it also only runs for 10min intervals with 10 minute rest periods for cooling, my other 12v compressor broke at 40psi on a second fill

I'd recommend regulated CO2 much faster most people chose this for onboard air sources

What you need to do is build a small air compressor with a 12V motor.

A high-RPM motor, a gearbox, a shaft with connecting rods going to a piston pump, some oil and a small pump, (so as not to create too much of a torque-draw), and you have an air compressor.

Run it off a small 12V gel-cell battery, (thanks again to jimmy for pointing me to All Electronics... they're great).
