ok, so you guys called me retarded and the lot when earlier i suggested the use of a wax/ glow stick mix to make glowing ammo. well I got all the materials i needed and put together a glowing tracer. don't be fooled my first attempt failed and the slug fell apart but this second slug stayed together even after firing and it glowed successfully.

Now for pictars!!!!!

does it glow really bright at night enough to see it 50-100 yards when you fire it?
Mabey you can mass produce them in different sizes for different barrels and sell them  haha

yeah its bright enough that you can see it when you shoot it but you can't store them for long (4-5 hours max). before the glow dies. I did use glowsticks for the glow after all. I may try the powder idea from earlier but i need to order it first. then we will see what i can really do.

thanks MrCrowley. I may try to do a tutorial on it

Why use glowsticks for them? I think McMaster sells glow-in-the-dark paint. That, mixed in with clear (white) wax, would make rounds that could be stored, and "charged" under a lamp or in the sun before use.

I like :D . Ever thought of trying to install a cheap LED and a battery into some ammo?

I agree, but still it would be nice like every once and a while, or if you had a big shooting range to retrieve it.

Ok, to solve many of the questions and such. I have thought about use luminescent paint and powders and such to make the round glow. In the end I concluded that it would cost way too much to order the paints and powder online and have it sent to my house than it would be to go down to my local lowes or walmart and buy glowsticks.

Walmart had big ass bags of like 50 tea lights and 2 packs of glowsticks, all in all that cost me like maybe 4 bucks total. Through using those with the limitations of the glowsticks I could make roughly 7-8 slugs before i ran out of glow juice. I would still have lots of wax left over and I could just go out and buy more glow sticks for like 2 bucks and i could make many more.

that beats spending like 20 bucks on the luminescent powders and paints and shit then another 15 to have it shipped to my house. for a total of like 35 bucks for a little glow.

I really liked the led glow idea, if i ever get bored one day i may try it. I doubt it will go far because I mean it is a wax slug and who here expects it to last very long anyway?

I will get a video up as soon as I can
