How To: Adapt a Propane Adapater

You knows those propane adapters you get off those torch kits, specifically <A HREF="http://www.hardwarestore.com/media/prod ... ">these</a>, well i've had problems finding the correct fitting to adapt it as the threads are between 1/8" and 1/4" or something.

So I took a 1/2" brass male threaded plug, drilled a hole using a size 14 metric drill bit, roughened up the inside of the hole and the outside bit of the propane adapter, spread some JB-Weld on each piece, and stuck them together.

Now I can use this on an advanced combustion or hybrid for fueling, and can take it off and still use it as a torch adapter as I glued the fitting to the outside of the adapter, not the inside threads.

I'm sure people in America have no trouble finding the correct fittings, but personally i've never seen anything that would be compatable.

And this is what it should look like, except cleaner then mine...

hey thats pretty clever.

By the way though, the threads on the torch heads are 1/4" compression threads so you just have to unscrew the torch head and thread in the male compression fitting. But this works too.

Yeah that's what SB15 said, I went to several plumbing merchants who also specialise in gas fittings, they had no clue what I was talking about. I had a look round but couldn't find anything.

They don't happen to be like <A HREF="http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... ">these</a> do they?
