Hi I was wondering what size fitting would fit best in the end of a paintball tank preferably preferred with the brass original valve removed??

I thought either 1/4" or 3/8" and was wondering what tap would I need to get to thread the tank to accept either a 1/4" or 3/8" fitting? would this be choking the flow of the paintball chamber for my hybrid? maybe I could just have a 1/4" or 3/8" pipe union but going to a 1/2" or 3/4" barrel

Thanks Dave

Take it to the hardware store and match it up with the fittings. Pipe thread is pipe thread.

haha Gippeto but I tapped a 3/8" whitworth thread into a piece of steel and it seems way too small to fit 3/8" fittings. I may be wrong, wil have a look in the week:P So you are saying is that a 1/4" tap will fit a 1/4" fitting (seems simple now) *lifts fringe and slaps forehead*

Could anyone tell me what threads that look the closest to the threads of a paintball tank (Not the brass valve that screws into the paintball gun) but the threads that this brass valve fits into. I was thinking 1/4" but frankrede uses 3/8" fitting (chip in here please because on this http://www.spudfiles.com/forums/stinger-mkii-t9723.html hybrid you are doind exactly what I am and would like to ask you a few questions have you got MSN frankrede???

Thanks Dave

The tap size is important, but so is the diameter of the hole which you intend to tap.

For 1/4"npt, you need a 7/16" hole.

For 3/8" npt, you need a 9/16" hole.

Handy chart;

Thanks alot but....

as I am from the UK. I will be using BSP threaded fittings so will I have to buy a 3/8" BSP tap to tap the hole in the front of the paintball tank for a 3/8" fitting? one like this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/5-BSP-TAPS-3-8-an ... 286.c0.m14 ONLY THE 3/8" ones tho!!

Thanks Dave

i just posted on UKSGC but i'll post here too

as far as i know, paintball tank threads are 3/8" NPT so you need an adapter (i linked on UKSGC) but its best to PM Frankrede and check or email him if its up on his profile.
