Here is another source for QEV's in the US.
Note that they now have a 1" size available.
It appears to be constructed like a "piston" style rather than diaprhagm style that is typical in the US.
Anybody familar with these?

1 inch is nice. From the PDF they show the "Piston" It's the short fat puck with wings commonly used in most QDV's.dewey-1 wrote:Here is another source for QEV's in the US.

The only concern I have is they do not show any replacement parts.
I used their 3/4" version for the 3D CAD library.
Maybe I will just have to get one to create a 3D model and see how it performs, that is if it is not to unreasonably priced.
I think they still consider the "puck with wings" a diaphragm as far as terminology goes. I have not really located any references otherwise.
Tech, have you seen anything? If so please post a link.

Not many places do replacement parts for QEV's. I only know one supplier in the UK which does replacement pistons.
They are called diaphragms but the whole object physically moves as opposed to flexing a large diameter rubber sheet and is not retained at any point. Hence the piston term which gets used.

That is the best explanation I have seen so far to really differentiate the two types!Hotwired wrote:Not many places do replacement parts for QEV's. I only know one supplier in the UK which does replacement pistons.

A sliding diaphragm verses a mounted diaphragm!

they are common in europe.... but the largest size is/was 3/4"...
in my opinion they are the best QEVs out there - because they seem to be more compact and lighter than other models

Often referred to as a shuttle rather than a piston
