replicating hand slide valve help

upgrading from a ball valve and would like to replicate a hand slide valve ,like this one


how should i go about it?

also this same slide valve as you see has 16 mm male thread, is that close to 1/2 inch npt threads? ( eg would this screw into a 1/2 female tee)
btw this exact model is about 10$ posted on ebay

You mean you're going to use this to pilot an exhaust valve, right?

it can be done but it is probably cheaper to buy one...

Technically it isn't very complicated - it's just an inverted spool valve (the slide acts as the spool).

yeah for replacing a ball valve for actuating a piston valve

really if it only $10 just buy it, coz they would be hard to make with out a lathe

IIRC you can buy 1/2" NPT sleeve valves from McMaster. If you're using it as a pilot, you're probably best off just buying a smaller one and adapting it to 1/2" with some fittings. An 1/8" sleeve valve should be more than enough to pilot a 3/4" QEV. If not, you can drill additional exhaust holes.
