Lets note that making any type of supressor is a federal offence within the United States.

In America anything that can be attached to a real firearm that will change the report by 2db or more is considered a supressor.

I said anything that can be attached. If you put a piece of duct tape and put it over the end of a real gun, and it happened to change the report by 2db or more, it would be an illegal supressor.

People making supressors for cannons would become targets of interest for the people looking for people that make illegal supressors and such.

Plus the US doesn't need any help making spudguns illegal.

Typically make them more quiet

Personally I don't have a problem with you guys talking about supressors, however I used to have a tutorial on here on mine and I took it down becuause the issue is touchy. With a supressor there is no other name for it, can't really call it a barrel extention it's too obvious. Holes in the end of a barrel can be called for looks only.

I hope you get what I mean. Just letting those who don't know that making supressors that have any kind of ability to go onto a firearm is illegal in the US.

Lessens the flash from explosion. Its called a muzzle break it is also used on "real" guns.

You are in new New Zealand - the laws are different there, compared to the United States. If it's ok to buy them (without a specialty licence) it's probably ok to build and use homebuilts.

However, this is a forum both based and frequented by Americans, and it is generaly illegal for them to build or own a suppressor. There are special licences you can buy, but I doubt anyone here is going to spend 200$ instead of just making the barrel longer - which is undoubtedly the most effective way to make it quieter.

not only do you need a 200 dollar transfer tax stamp, you need to be a class II manufacturer which is about 1000 a year for a license
